A Chartered Financial Planner, Nick is an experienced adviser in financial planning and wealth management matters. He advises on a range of financial planning matters including Strategic Investment, Tax Planning, Pensions and Retirement Planning and Protection.
In recent years Nick has worked primarily with high net worth clients, becoming very involved in matters associated with the funding and management of pension arrangements, against the backdrop of frequently changing pension legislation. New rules for pension freedoms in 2015, plus subsequent changes to the annual allowance for high earners, have made advice on pension matters increasingly significant, so this has been an advice area of high demand for Nick.
Pensions are only part of the picture, however, so broader financial planning matters such as long term saving, school fees planning, inheritance tax planning, family succession and protection against disaster scenarios can be part of the picture. Nick has frequently worked alongside clients' legal and tax advisers, and is a big believer in a joined-up approach when it comes to professional advice.
Nick has attained Chartered Financial Planner status and is a member of the Personal Finance Society and Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment. Nick has completed the STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) certificate for Financial Services – Trusts and Estates planning and attained MSc(econ) Finance & Investment Management, University of Aberdeen.
Outside work, Nick likes to keep active and is a keen hillwalker, with an eye on his next Munro. He also takes part in running and cycling events, including multi-discipline events such as the Rob Roy Challenge and Great Kindrochit Quadrathlon. Nick is a music fan and has played guitar in a number of bands over the years. Rock-star status, alas, continues to elude him.
